pcb-printer: Troubleshooting
Paper-feed LED on printer is flashing red
- Did you select the correct paper source („CD/DVD“)?
- Did the printer correctly accept the board / tray?
Paper-feed LED on printer is flashing red and printer does not react to button presses
- Make sure there's no print jobs still scheduled that uses the wrong settings
- If nothing helps switch the front-tray back to the regular position and back again to the CD/DVD position
Printer is printing stripes
- First of all, make sure there's enough ink in the fifth tank from the left! „Enough“ means filled to half a centimeter or more.
- Run the self-cleaning program, multiple times if required.
- If the printer was sitting around for a _long_ time you might have to take more drastic steps and clean the head with Isopropanol. Before doing this, please consult with someone who's experienced with the printer and ideally has done this before.
Out of ink
- Druckkopf durch Drücken der Tintentaste (die mit dem Tropfen) in Austauschposition bringen und öffnen
- Leere Patrone ausbauen
- Welche von den 6?
- Glossy Black, die glaub ich 5te von links, die rechte von den beiden Schwarzpatronen.
- schwarzen nubsi (oben, Gummiartig) entfernen.
- Welchen von den 2 pro Patrone?
- Den hinteren, aber die besagte Patrone hat glaub eh nur noch einen.
- Patrone durch das freigewordene Loch mit Tinte befüllen
- Spritze hab ich mir immer gespart und die Spritztülle von der Tintenflasche direkt in die Patrone gesteckt; da muss man vorsichtig arbeiten, aber spart sich das Gedöns mit der Nadel. Bei dieser Methode muss man aufpassen, dass keine Tinte in der Öffnung selbst hängenbleibt; die bildet nämlich dann beim weiteren Nachfüllen eine Blase, die platzt und dann wirds eklig.
- Falls doch Nadel erwünscht ist: einfach auf die Spritztülle der Flasche aufsetzen, Spritze kann man sich sparen.
- Und Gummihandschuhe sind bei diesem Arbeitsschritt voller Gewinn ;)
- Patrone schliessen, einbauen, Druckkopf schliessen, Tintentaste drücken und Drucker seine Arbeit machen lassen
Printer doesn't accept the PCB+tray
- possible reason could be a too short PCB, just fix it by placing a 2nd useless pcb or a piece of paper next to your pcb so the printer thinks it is longer
- goal is to somehow get over the half length of the tray
Etch-resist coming off the board in dry flakes
- Board was baked for too long or too hot.
Etch-resist is peeling off in the etch bath
- Board was baked too short or too cool.
- You can try to reduce the amount of air bubbles if the issue persists.
- If you're using Sodium Persulfate, try Fe-III-Cl instead.
